I've been thinking about this for quite a while, and now that I have some time I've finally decided to go through with this idea.

So, I'm sure by now any of you who have been watching me for a while know about my Disgaea-Pokemon fan comic, Devil In Me. I've mentioned a few times that eventually, there will be Pokemon gijinka in the comic.

And that's what this... event  will be centered around - Designing Pokemon gijinka to appear in the story!

Now, before I get into any criteria for the characters, I feel the need to say this:
The characters you might or might not create for this contest WILL NOT be part of the main cast. They will be more like enemy characters like random encounters and "bosses", or background characters like shopkeepers.

Now that I have that said, I'll get on with the guidelines for the characters (there's a lot, but this is necessary for the people who don't know Disgaea to understand a little easier):

General Restrictions

:bulletpurple:NO LEGENDARIES. I already have roles for certain Legends (such as Darkrai, Mew, and even Arceus), and I don't want to have to change it because I feel obligated to add your character. Sorry!
:bulletpurple:NO MAN-MADE POKEMON If Porygon was created through human technology, how would there be a naturally born Porygon giinka? And Mewtwo was genetically engineered by humans, so he wouldn't have a demon/angel gijinka either. And the Voltorb/Magnemite families wouldn't really make much sense either because how do fucking magnets work??...
:bulletpurple:PLEASE GIVE A GENERAL PERSONALITY FOR YOUR CHARACTERS. Even just a nature (Adamant, Sassy, Bashful) will work!

Design Aspects

:bulletpink:The gijinka-type characters must be either demons or angels. They can not be classified as a human because the Pokemon world, which is the human world connected to the Netherworld the bulk of the story takes place in, does not have gijinka (for reasons I will explain as the story progresses).
:bulletpink:However, I would prefer that you do not go overboard with angelic characters - DIM takes place in the demon world, after all!
:bulletpink:The designs have to have a "Disgaea" feel to them, while still having qualities of the Pokemon they are based on. (Click here for refs for the general feel the Disgaea character designs have)
:bulletpink:Gijinka can be shiny, but just like with actual Pokemon that trait is extremely rare.
:bulletpink: Certain types of Gijinka (as in,the 17 types in Pokemon) are more common in either the Netherworld or Celestia (the Angel world). This is the general way I divide them up:
:bulletblack:Gijinka that are primarily Dark, Poison. or Ghost-type, (including dual-types that have one of those listed as its first type, like Dark/Fire or Poison/Flying) are only found in the Netherworld. Any dual-type gijinka with one of those types as its second type (like Ice/Ghost or Grass/Poison)are more common in the Netherworld, but can still be found as angels in Celestia even though it isn't as common/.
:bulletblack:Normal/Flying Gijinka are exclusive to Celestia, while pure Normal and Psychic types tend to be more common in Celestia than in the Netherworld.
:bulletblack: Generally speaking, Gijinka that are based off Pokemon that could be considered nocturnal (like Meowth and Clefairy) are more common in the Netherworld, while Gijinka that are based off of Pokemon that are awake only during the morning (like Sunkern) are more common in Celestia.
:bulletblack: Eevee giinka (and its evolutions) are equally rare in both Celestia and the Netherworld. However, Umbreon evolutions are more common in the Netherworld, while Espeon evolutions are more common in Celestia.

Battle Aspects

:bulletpink:Disgaea and Pokemon are both based on fighting to become stronger, so you'll have to consider the Pokemon you're using's stats if you want to decide a weapon for them (if not, I'll figure out something myself, that's not really a big deal)
:bulletpink:Since both Disgaea and Pokemon are pretty stat-based when it comes to battle but their stat systems are different, I've translated them as follows (Pokemon stats on the right, Disgaea on the left):
:bulletgreen:HP-->HP
:bulletred:Attack-->ATK
:bulletyellow:Defense-->DEF
:bulletblue:Special Attack-->INT(Magic)
:bulletwhite:Special Defense-->RES(Magic Resistance/Healing power)
:bulletorange:Speed-->SPD(Dodge)

*PLEASE NOTE: PP in Pokemon and SP in Disgaea are a bit too different to be able to be considered the same stat. And Accuracy/HIT are also pretty different, so I'll take care of those myself when the time comes.
:bulletpink:While we're on the subject of stats, there are 7 different weapon types the Gijinka can use (basically, the human weapons in Disgaea), which are classified into three types:
Melee: Fisticuffs, Sword, Spear, Axe
Ranged:Bow, Gun
Magic: Staffs

:bulletpink:Swords, Spears, and Axe attacks are all powered by ATK only. Their range of power from strongest to weakest is Axe --> Sword ---> Spear
:bulletpink:Fist attacks are powered by both ATK and SPD.
:bulletpink:Bows and Guns are both powered by HIT, but Bows take ATK into consideration as well, while Guns use HIT and SPD.
:bulletpink:Staffs are based on INT. Because more brains = more magic power.
:bulletpink:Gijinka have FOUR (4) "unique skills," which are basically Pokemon attacks that the Pokemon they are based off of can learn.
:bulletpink:Remember, you can train Pokemon and Disgaea characters any way you want (Smogon and perfectionists be damned!), so feel free to break the mold with your gijinka's stats, moves, and weapon choices!

I'm sorry this was so long, I just really wanted to try to explain this all. Hopefully this will get a decent reaction, and you all can have some fun with DIM too!
